General Contractor: Ellis Don

Address: 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops

Project Details: The new Patient Care Tower (PCT) at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C. was constructed on the Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) campus and connects directly to the existing RIH facilities on five levels. It includes a nine-storey building plus rooftop helipad, and two levels of underground parking to supplement 165 new surface parking stalls.

The Patient Care Tower will encompass 27,000 square metres (gross floor area) of new clinical, administrative and support spaces. Program components include mental health and medical/surgical beds; new surgical suite; perinatal centre and private labour and delivery rooms, obstetrics and postpartum beds; and a neonatal intensive care unit.

As part of this complex project, Pitt Meadows Plumbing coordinated with subtrades and partners to fabricate 56 Multi-Trade Racks over a period of 5 months. The team on site coordinated a very successful delivery and installation of all MTR's over a period of 8 weeks. The design team made the decision to install these complex systems before steel studs and door frames which allowed installation to be streamlined. MTR installation was 100% complete over 3 floors with 4 weeks of the final concrete slab having the shoring removed.
