In 2017, as part of a joint venture with Broadway Mechanical (PMB) we completed the complicated, yet iconic Parq Vancouver. The JV between Broadway Refrigeration & Air Conditioning and Pitt Meadows Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Ltd. was a unique undertaking for the Vancouver market. The size, complexity and aggressive schedule of the project suited the coming together of two venerable mechanical contractors to serve EDT and the owner on this project.

To assist the cost and constructability of the project, PMB engaged in a multi-month design process with the full team. This included assisting with equipment selections, pipe and duct routing, and scheduling; this was all over-laid with a dynamic budgeting process to evaluate the costs/benefits of alternatives. Furthermore, the JV designed a specialized tender process for key equipment as well as sub-trade scopes of work to ensure the overall project benefitted from the input of the design work. PMB also leveraged BIM to model the entire building in 3D. This not only allowed for a high level of coordination between all trades, but also helped the team identify design issues, propose solutions, and greatly reduce the time it took to resolve issues. The JV also utilized a 12,000 sq ft warehouse in Port Kells to preassemble the entire mechanical room which allowed them to control the process and alleviate potential scheduling and environmental issues which can happen while assembling onsite.

The PMB Joint Venture won 2 VRCA Silver Awards of Excellence for this project.
